Record Name | Brignall. A fine ash, surely one of the largest in this area |
Record Description | This fine ash tree is in its prime complete with no significant loss of limbs. The tree measures 7.10m girth at a height above ground level is certainly the largest ash of the many that I have seen.
This ash tree is visible from the track down to the Old Church at Brignall |
Dimensions | 7.10m girth at 1.50m above ground level. |
Additional Notes | This tree has been recorded as Tree No on the Woodland Trust Ancient Tree Hunt Database.
Every year one or two trees in all landscapes are victim to windfall and the quality of the landscapes are diminished by the loss of these trees. They cannot be replaced in one, two or even three lifetimes and replacement planted trees will not look the same as they will have a different history.
The objective in making a photographic record of trees and woodland in the Dales landscapes is that when these trees are lost they will be lost to human memory and there will be no other record of their existence. |
